Hello,

we need to import translations with WPML, I saw on your website that the addon is coming soon but I found it online (see attachement). Is it a beta? can we install it?

Thank you,

F.

Hi Francesca,

Yes that is the development version of the plugin, at the moment when i last looked at it, it did not work with variable woocommerce products, you could install it and try it (backup your db and files just to be safe).

Hi James,

we installed the addon.

I have a question: we alredy have the contents in the default language and need to import the translation. We are using Jet engine custom fields, the title is the same in both the languages and we need to import the text contents only. Is it possible? How should we prepare the CSV file?

Thank you,

F.

Hi Francesca,

When you say the "text contents", is this just the post_content? or multiple fields?

Have you seen the documentation for the importwp-wpml plugin: https://www.importwp.com/docs/import-wpml-translations-from-csv-xml/

If you already have the original article, and you want to create the translations, i would presume the best way to do this would be to have column to reference the original language item by id or some kind of identifier, then the language code if you are importing more than one language, then add columns for every bit of data you want to translate

Translation ID, Langage Code, Text contents
1, en, The text contents

I would always recommend backing up your files and database to make it easy for you to restore if an issue does occur, and also to populate a single row in the csv file to make sure the import works as expected.

I have just tested the version from github and it seems to be working for posts, pages, taxonomies, attachments.
