When importing, the importer starts, but after some time I do get the error message:

A fatal error has occurred.

Importer session has changed

 

 

No error in my server error log file visible.

Can you confirm if you have v2.6.2 of import wp installed?

Forgot to say, can you run it 2+ times, to clear out the old session and this should start a new one.

If you are still having issues could you please enable debug log va Tools > Import WP > Settings / Tools > General Settings and Enable debug mode.

Re run the importer.

once ran, go to the bottom of the importer page, at the bottom right there should be a "show debug" and under debug logs, download and attach the "importer log".
