Add option to import featured image as external featured

I see that ImportWP will import/download image (then add to media libarary), then set as featured image.

However, many users like me only need set featured image as external link (not need to download & add to media library.

Can you consider to add an option to set featured image as external link ?

How are you adding a remote featured image? is this a plugin or part of the theme?

If you can let me know i can have a look and see how it works and offer a solution.

Sorry for late response. I want to try everything I can before post reply.

Plugin for external image url I use : https://wordpress.org/plugins/featured-image-from-url/

I import external image url to Meta field : fifu_image_url

In editing page, the image is added to Woo product successfully. However, it doesn't display in post and category as featured image of post.

I have to go to product page, and click Update post to display the external image.

With the latest update of FIFU plugin, the author seems fix the error with metadata. Everything works well now.

In case there is error, user can go to FIFU - Settings - Metadata - Image Metadata (turn off & on again) to generate the missing metadata.
